First, starting tommorrow (2/28/09) I will be on Spring Break, and will probably not have any internet access until Friday. I wanted to point this out so that those who don't know won't feel ignored by me. I'm off to Florida for the first time in ages...
I figured out the problem with my camera- the memory card wasn't securely in place... oof. The stupidity BURNS.
Wow... I know I have more to say than that. My short-term memory's dead at the moment since I didn't get adequate sleep or nutrition during the past week. THAT'S MY EXCUSE AND I'M STICKING TO IT.
And now, for reading or skipping entirely, I have yet again stolen a survey thing from beatlesfan931.
It's essentially: "...25 random things, facts, habits, or goals about you." It's vague, so this is going to be very random, filled with lots of not really important things. And bear in mind I might delete these later so the journal takes up less space.
1. In 6th grade, I invented a wannabe Pokemon game called "Animal War". It was played with paper info sheets for the monsters & dice, and people actually thought it was fun.
2. My favorite search engine when I first started using the internet was Metacrawler. I'm not sure why...
3. I have New Mexico vacation guides from 1993, 2001, and 2006.
4. One morning I woke up and there was a bird in my room.
5. One night there was a snake in the doorway of my room.
6. I've driven four vehicles: 2 cars, 1 truck, 1 camper van.
7. I made an Itakaro armband thing... out of part of a sock. FAIL FAIL FAIL
8. It gets so hot upstairs in our house during the summer, plastic things sometimes get stuck to each other, and a wax sculpture I have melted...
9. Two-thirds of the floorspace in my room is covered with junk I need to put away.
10. There's a non-functional fireplace in my room. Little bits of concrete and dirt occasionally fall down and give me a mess to periodically clean up.
11. I have four car model kits, only one of which is vaguely near completion.
12. I used to read manga all the time... and now probably read them at the rate of maybe one a year.
13. My fave newspaper comics are 'Rose is Rose' and 'Calvin & Hobbes'.
14. The doornob on the inside of my closet likes to fall off every now and then, landing loudly.
15. The first series I ever otaku'd over was Star Trek. It still makes me giddy. Most recent Star Trek series ("Enterprise") NOT INCLUDED.
16. Lurked the dA chat rooms for the first time ever yesterday. I didn't leave with a good impression of the place...
17. My crappy film camera still has a roll of film in it that I shot part of in 2002...
I'm getting up collossally early tommorrow morning so I've got to leave this here for now and get to sleep. Maybe I'll finish the 25 later, I dunno. This feels like a very incomplete journal but I didn't have a lot of time for it today.
Awesomesauce:
The last year and a half
Hey again! This is me getting my journal caught up to my life as it's been an amazingly long time since my last real update here (December 2010)!
December 2010 thru early April 2011 I was spending time with my family & packing all my stuff up in preparation to move. No school & no job, how I miss it! Mid April 2011 I moved to Montana in the Toyota (I left the VW behind until I have a chance to move it to it's new home). I slept in the car along the way because I had to be thrifty, & because I really enjoy sleeping in painful positions. But having boxes stacked to the ceiling certainly hides you from view!
The plan was to move to Missoula, M
I'm back
Here's the basic rundown on what's been going on with me:
The drive up to Yellowstone was stressful because I didn't know the VW had 50 quirks that don't appear until you take it on a lonnnng drive, so I worried it was going to die enroute. Plus I accidentally ruined one of my coolant hoses by setting it on a moving belt (YAY!).
At Yellowstone I got my RV site :D so I got to live in my van. The only bad thing was, RV'ers don't get free internet! How did I survive? I don't know!
In some ways it was a better season than 2009, though overall I thought 2009 was more memorable and fun. I did manage to do some damage to the van's electric hook-u
Status Update
This is going to be the shortest thing I'll ever write because I've got to leave today... I wish I wrote it a week ago when I actually had time, because as usual I have too much to say.
Anyway, I'm going to work in Yellowstone again, this time by myself, and in an older VW Camper instead of a car. More fun to live in, but more potential trouble on a long drive due to its age. So wish me luck, I think I really need it...
I'll try not to lose touch as I did last summer but the internet's a pain there... we'll just have to see. Anyway, gotta run. :spin:
10,000 miles
Hey guys, I'm back home in South Carolina. I didn't get to Alaska; winter came early for Canada this year, and the road in some places was icy enough to be impassable- so I turned around and headed south after sliding on ice three times. There was one area where I ditched my car, and while I was waiting to be towed, 4 or 5 others ditched themselves on the same patch of road... how's that for ice?!
I slept in the driver's seat of my car every night except one, where I slept in a tent and really regretted it. I stayed at approx. ten campgrounds on the whole trip, so I only paid $81 for 'lodging'. The rest of the nights, I mastered the art of s
